Well this week I’ve managed to fit a few good runs in this week:
Tuesday 3rd June - 4.25 mile run including 5 x hill reps (about 2.5 miles on the hills) over 42.53 minutes.
Thursday 5th June - 2 Mike in 18.20 mins, just a quick jog to my parents to pick up Sam once I got home from work.
Friday 6th June - 4.24 mile run over 39.20 mins, Basically Finnish work, jump on bus, jump off bus and instead of getting a second I ran the rest of the way home.
Sunday 8th June - 7.02 Mile run over 1 hour and 4 minutes. Good steady run… Average pace 9.11/mile
First time I’ve tried the route, it ended with a route I’ve used before but started on a route I’ve not done before, was an enjoyable run… bumped into a lot of other runners cause it was a nice sunny day… A few people walking dogs and hardly any cars which is always good.

So its back to training…
September 7th is slowly getting closer…
So far my longest run has been 6.5 miles… which is a log way from the 13 mile Half Marathon run I’m looking to do.
Been reading a lot of the information on runnersworld.co.uk (and the magazine)… and I am now trying to fit interval and hill training into my shorter 4 to 6 mile runs while slowly increasing the distance on my longer runs… Going to try and fit a 7 to 7.5 mile run in on the weekend. (though I’m working Saturday this week).
The BUPA 10km which I did in 55 minutes and 30 seconds was on the 18th of May.
Since then I’ve done:
1) A interval session with 4 x 4minutes hard pace on the 20th May,
2) A Plain 4 mile run on the 24th May (mainly due to not being able to fit a run in earlier).
3) A 4.49 mile run on the 30th May, the run was quite a fast paced run, basically running part way home from work.
4) A hill training run on 3rd June with 5 lots of a 1/4 mile hill and a bit of a run on the flat too… total mileage was 4.69 however 2.5 miles of it was hill reps.
Wasn’t too well in-between the 24th and 30th so didn’t manage to get out… feeling good now and I found the hill reps very fun

Sam was a bit under the weather with a chest infection… cough cough… posit…
So not very well, checked him out at the doc’s got him medicine and by Weekend he was starting to become his normal self…
In the mean time (Just in time for the bank holiday) myself and Fi both got ill…
And well we’ve both had a bad head and the sniffles since…
I managed to fit a 4 Mile run in on the Saturday… as I wasn’t feeling too bad, nice steady pace… But after that I’ve not been running since… wanted to try a long 7 mile run on the Monday but was too ill….
Oh well, hopefully be ok for this weekend and try a steady long run then? will see…
In the mean time I managed to get hold of some more pictures from the Manchester 10km last week

The Day After… (Technically 2 days, but oh well)…
Sunday was good, a nice 10km race… really enjoyed it!
But its no time to stop and rest, there are plenty more miles to run between now and ….
Well that’s the thing, there’s so many other events this year that I could try… If I had unlimited time and money I’d try them all but oh well…
I think my main training goal at the moment is to build up my distance to a half marathon maybe even the Leeds one in September? However saying that I managed my fastest 5km run today… so maybe picking up the pace a bit won’t do any harm on some of my shorter runs…
I basically did a 5 km run starting with a 5 minute warm-up, then 3x 4 minute’s fast pace and 3x 4 minutes cool down. It was quite a run, however I did do the 5km in 26′28.
This was also my 100th Mile with the Nike+ kit woot!!! Plenty more to come

Well the timer is now at 00:00:00 for the Bupa 10KM race…
There was an amazing turnout for the race and it was a good day for it, Sunny, no rain yet not too hot…
I was in the White Wave (2nd wave to go) and unfortunately due to running late I started towards the middle of that wave… Making it hard to pick up a pace and brake out of the crowed… (Note to self, Next year, Get there EARLY)…
1Km into the race after weaving and moving in-between people I was still feeling good and keeping it down at around the 9 minute mile.. Nice warm up steady pace, about 1Km I met up with a friend of mine from Work (Nigel) and then we increased the pace a little… It wavered between 7.4 and 9.10 per mile averaging at around 8.59 overall.
The race seemed to go quite quickly and it was fun running through the tunnels at Manchester United’s!!! Ground about 4 Km in the race.
The atmosphere was grate and the cheering crowed’s towards the side really helped push you along
Got to the 8Km point (home straight) and was still stuck between too many people to push forward
But was feeling quite good as this was the point last year that my leg started to hurt a lot… So proper training does pay off
9Km was still feeling good, wanted to try and speed up the pace but just due to the number of people it made it awkward… last 300 meters… Managed to speed up a bit… last 100 meters I managed to get a bit of a sprint finish in (even though I didn’t feel too cleaver after it)…
FINNISHED… Total raised for Charity (so far) 500 pounds… Go Zen…

The count down is ticking and soon we will all be running
Final Training Run, 3.1 Miles (5km) in 28 Minutes… not too bad… felt kinda easy Also got my fastest mile (8.12mins).
Well good luck everyone doing the run
Anyone with Nike+ can run on the same day anywhere in the world and compeate against my time if they like (not that I’m exspecting to do anything super fast or anything, but the challenge makes it fun)…
Just check the Challenges on Nike+ or if you don’t have Nike I’ve also settup one on runner+.com….
Good luck all,
Have fun,
Take Care
(PS… this is incase I don’t get time to post again :P)

Well it’s Sunday… The 10km is coming up shortly (Next Sunday)… The clock is ticking and I’m looking forward to it… This week I managed to do two 4 mile runs followed by a 6.4 mile run today… Total miles for the week 14.4 Miles… (Think that’s a Personal best?)… The run today wasn’t too bad, considering… The little one only let me get about 3 and a half hour of sleep… so I wasn’t sure about keeping it at a 6 mile run or dropping it down to a 4 to 5 miler… but at the halfway point I decided to continue the run… The weather at the moment is bloody hot… I am not used to this kind of weather… So that made the run hard… and the bottle of water wasn’t enough.. Found myself nipping into IKEA (of all places) to buy another bottle of still water about 4 miles along the route… Was stopped by a cyclist for directions about 2.5 miles into the run as well… Overall the 6.4 miles was done in 58 minutes and 12 seconds… Considering I was trying to keep it at an easy pace, which was quite fast… should do ok next Sunday Anyway, here is a map of the route…
After the run I spent time yet again doing the back garden… Just mowing the lawn, nothing special… and we also nipped to Costco for some bits… Anyway, got to cut this short… Off to my parents for Pizza ‘N’ Salad at my parents.

Well the clock is ticking, 9 days to go…
I managed a 4 mile training run on Monday, nice little loop…
It was a good run, Did the first 3.2 miles (5km) quite fast getting me a personal best of 27 min’s 45 seconds, overall run was 36 minutes which isn’t too bad.
Here is the route:
I also managed a run Yesterday,
It was quite hot outside, summer finally here?
So I was able to run down some of the country lanes without getting covered in mud.
However, due to it being a nice day every body was out walking with there Dogs… Why do dog’s seem to like runners (or dislike) so much… It ment my run was kinda Stop/Start all the way… However it was still an enjoyable run… Ohhh and I ran past 2 other runners!!! There is more people in Droylsden than me who run? lol
This run was in 37 minutes and 04 seconds which considering the stopping and starting wasn’t too bad.
Here is the route:
Oh well, 9 days to go, planning a training run on Friday or Saturday of 6 Miles (Full 10km) but I’m going to keep this to a nice steddy pace over and hour or so.
This Blog will contain my random rants, training information for the up and coming 10km, family stuff gaming, and random useful snipbits of information.
